The Future of Accounting, Auditing and Corporate Governance Practices

The core of the lecture will focus on the evolution towards continuous financial reporting models and continuous auditing, the ripple effect on corporate governance practices, the motivations and impediments to this evolution, and the ultimate inevitability of such models.

The lecture is organized in a collaboration between Department of Accounting and Auditing, Copenhagen Business School and “Foreningen af Statsautoriserede Revisorer”, who will host a reception after the lecture.

Dr. Sutton is professor of accounting at the University of Connecticut and professorial fellow in accounting and business information systems at the University of Melbourne. He is editor of the

International Journal of Accounting Information Systems. He has authored five books, 4 monographs, and more than 80 refereed publications. Twice his research has been recognized with the American Accounting Association Information Systems Section’s notable contribution to the IS literature award (1996 and 1999).In 2003, he was recognized with the American Accounting Association Artificial Intelligence/Emerging Technologies Section’s outstanding researcher award for his cumulative lifetime contributions to research in the discipline.
