The first film conference on 'Cultural Production in a Global context: The Worldwide Film Industries' was first initiated in New York at Stern Business School in May 2007. The conference was a huge success and soon it was decided, that the sequel would take place at the Copenhagen Business School.
imagine..then teamed up with the research project 'CinemaProject' (CINEMA is short for ‘Creative Industries: Negotiating, Emotions, Management and Art’.) in order to organize and fund 'The Worldwide Film Industries' conference which was held at Kilen from May 29-31, 2008.

The majority of the participants were academics though with a small number of practitioners from the film industry attending. Throughout the three-day conference academics from different business schools in Europe, US and Canada, presented their research on different areas within the film industry. But the learning and knowledge sharing part did not only take place during the academic paper presentations as the conference programme did also bring the participants 'on location' to visit The Danish National Film School and Nordisk Film in Valby.

At the last day at the conference a panel consisting of Professor Joseph Lampel, Shamal Shamsie and Xavier Martin commented on the business model of Hollywood and thereby provided some insight into the future of Hollywood.

Next year´s conference will be in London at the Cass Business School!
