Maria Figueroa: Lead Author for the Working Group III, IPCC, AR6

Assistant professor Maria Figueroa is selected to participate as a Lead Author for the Working Group III contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6)

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. The IPCC is currently in its Sixth Assessment cycle. During which the Panel will produce three Special Reports, a Methodology Report on national greenhouse gas inventories and the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6). The Sixth Assessment Report is expected to be ready in 2021.

Each of the IPCC Assessment Reports requires the international selected team of experts working as Lead and Contributing authors to consider the range of scientific, technical and socio-economic views, the diversity of the scientifically and technically  valid  evidence, and  the  level  of agreement  in  the  scientific,  technical,  and  socio-economic  literature to compose a full  scientific  and  technical assessment of the global status on climate change.

As a Lead Author Maria Figueroa will be responsible to write and contribute to the production of chapters within the assessment report.  She will bring her transdisciplinary research experience in the area of governance, partnerships, innovations and civil society contributions to sustainable transitions, to join   the efforts of IPCC Working Group III for assessing the scientific, technical, environmental, economic and social aspects of the mitigation of climate change.
