Employee appointed board members – a challenge for Danish corporate governance

In connection with a new book entitled “Medarbejdervalgte bestyrelsesmedlemmer – en udfordring for Dansk selskabsledelse” (Employee appointed board members – a challenge for Danish corporate governance) by Caspar Rose and Hans Kurt Kvist, Center for Corporate Governance helt a seminar concerning the roles and functions of employee elected board members. During the seminar the authors presented the main findings of the book focusing on whether the employee elected board members have any real influence on the decision process, and whether employee representatives are more orientated towards protecting the interests of stakeholders other than the owners. At the seminar, were also be a presentation and description of the German system where employees have a high degree of co-determination, which has recently come under pressure due to Germany’s economic problems.
