On Tuesday, February 27, the VELUX Chair welcomed Professor Kanji Tanimoto from Waseda University (and founder of the Japan Forum of Business and Society) who spoke on the subject of Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives and whether they are good for CSR.

The talk and discussion focused on the relative merits of government and private regulation, the issue of MSI membership, the challenges of securing the commitment of the member companies, and the obstacles to securing ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ legitimacy.

The discussion was enlivened by the participation of representatives of an MSI, or a company and of an investor organization.
