Denmark, Finland and New Zealand are the world’s least corrupt countries. That is if you want to believe ‘the corrupt ranking’ from the anti-corruption perception index Transparency International. In the recently published ranking for 2007 the three countries are sharing the first ranking, writes the news agency Ritzau.

In 2006 Denmark ranked four but the differences between the countries are only minimal in the ranking of the super league which has interchanged slightly.

The bottom ranking is shared by Somalia and Myanmar where corruption according to the 2007 ranking is widespread in large sectors of the society.

According to the news agency Reuters, Transparency International believes that the wealthy countries ought to take greater responsibility in order to get rid of corruption although corruption is primarily spread in the poor countries. The money often comes from multinational companies from the western world which are bribing the authorities in the poor countries.
