New Marie Curie Project investigates Corporate Lobbying in Europe

Jan Stuckatz receives Marie Curie grant from the European Commission to investigate Lobbying and Corporate Political Connections in Europe

How does corporate lobbying affect democratic representation and economic activity in Europe? Corporate lobbyists play a key role in the democratic process, yet we know little about how corporations influence politics in Europe. The LOBCON-EU project investigates the impact of lobbying and corporate political connections in the European Commission, Germany, and Denmark. LOBCON-EU uses big data and state-of-the-art quantitative methods to establish the causal effect of lobbying on politics and firm performance. The results will inform ongoing debates on corporate power, lobbying transparency, and inequality.
