How to best use the money?

“Let’s not worry about the problems that get the most press. As a society let’s do something where we are most able.” Bjørn Lomborg, Head of Copenhagen Consensus Center at CBS and editor of the book Global Crises, Global Solutions, says to Politiken.

The answer is directed at Svend Auken whose editorial in the above paper claims that Danes are scared about global warming - and this should be a top international priority.

Bill Gates for a day

On March 8th, 2007, 8 international economists, headed by Bjørn Lomborg acting as MC, will talk about 8 important problems in the world: ”Trade Barriers”, Water and Sanitation”, ”Women”, Biodiversity”, ”Education”, ”Terrorism”, ”Air Pollution” and ”Conflicts”. What would you do if you were in charge of Bill Gates’ fortune for a day and you could use it to solve important problems in the world? A panel consisting of Marianne Jelved (R), Jørgen Poulsen (Danish Red Cross) and Jesper Møller (Toms) will talk about the prioritization.

The conference is arranged by Copenhagen Consensus Center.
