One of the most experienced Danish politicians through the past 20 years is attached to CBS

On Thursday 23 February 2006, CBS opens the door for the public as Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, is appointed Adjunct Professor in European Integration and Business Management at the International Center for Business and Politics.

The appointment puts a special focus on developing research and analysis of the EU and the development of the Baltic Sea Region.

Political craftsmanship combined with strategic thinking and a strong popular appeal

In addition to his long political career, Mr. Ellemann-Jensen is also an experienced journalist and political commentator, and for many people in Denmark, he emerges as the archetype of a modern politician with unique abilities to combine political craftsmanship with strategic thinking and a strong popular appeal.

Unique contributor in developing research and analysis of the EU

“CBS wants to appoint Uffe Ellemann-Jensen for a number of reasons. Firstly, he is one of the most influential and experienced politicians through the past 20 years. Secondly, after his career as Minister for Foreign Affairs, he remains involved in numerous national and international organizations and boards. And finally, he is a role model for the modern politician; excellent communication skills, strategically experienced with a large network, nationally and internationally - a key person to get attached to CBS - he is a unique contributor in developing research and analysis of the EU. Unlike him, very few Danish politicians have experiences with the EU and the establishment of the single market,” says Ove K. Pedersen, Professor at CBS International Center for Business and Politics.

An opportunity to unite the topics that have been my life

“In the past several years, CBS has strengthened its international profile considerably. So I was very delighted for the opportunity to unite with CBS as appointed Adjunct Professor in European Integration and Business Management - the topics that I have felt strongly about most of my life, particularly the European politics and the development of our own Baltic community. I have left politics – but I am still very active in many international connections, and I try to keep my networks intact. I have a special commitment to the Baltic Sea Region as Chairman of the Baltic Development Forum and as a member of several boards in the region – so this is the field where I have something in particular to offer. The Baltic Sea Region is in the process of developing towards becoming one of the most exciting global growth centres - and I will discuss these perspectives in my inaugural speech, “says Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, newly appointed Adjunct Professor at CBS.
