Appointment of new Library Director

A unanimous selection committee has appointed Rene Steffensen Library Director as of today.

"The library at CBS has more than 1 million visitors a year and has for a couple of years been the leading university library as regards service and efficient internal processes with a special emphasis on resource utilisation, says Library Director René Steffensen. He continues, “at the same time the library at CBS is facing great challenges just like other university libraries. Research libraries must constantly reorganise as electronic resources and new demands change our reality – and in the coming years it will. We will experience an important growth in e-books and other web based information sources. I am looking forward to being a part of this development,” he ends.

Rene Steffensen, who has been Vice Director at the CBS library since January 2004, has previously been chief librarian at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Architecture, is a trained librarian and holds a Master of Arts in history and is involved in the Danish Association of Research Libraries where he is executive member of the board.

He takes over the position from Michael Cotta-Schønberg, who was recently appointed Library Director at the University of Copenhagen.
