Præsentation

Much of my work considers policymaking processes and, in particular, the shaping of western policies towards China and other nations in East Asia. My recent publications have looked at US policy responses to China’s Belt & Road Initiative and the UK’s 2015 decision to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). They have also surveyed the impact of the Trump presidency on both US – China relations and the wider world. Against this background, my work assesses the impact of political shifts such as these upon the business environment.

What frameworks do I employ? For the most part, my work takes theoretical frameworks and approaches used in domestic policymaking, particularly those associated with historical institutionalism, and explores the ways in which they can be used or adapted in foreign policy analysis. Questions of policy continuity and change loom large.

How am I getting all this across? Academic publications and conference presentations aside I also publish commentaries on contemporary political issues and have given interviews to many media outlets including DR2, TV2 News, the BBC World Service, Politiken, Information, Weekendavisen, and Jyllands-Posten. I also give presentations and join debates for organisations such as the British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark and at events such as Folkemødet on Bornholm.
