Students provide new input for businesses

How do you tackle good ideas, and how do you get the best out of them? These are some of the questions that a group of students taking an MSc in Management of Innovation & Business Development recently gave possible answers to.

This took place during an innovations day when students and teachers from CBS joined employees from Radiometer for 11 hours of developing an Ideation Funnel Management solution for Radiometer.

Radiometer introduced the students to their problem, which was the practical starting point, and the students supplemented this with their theoretical knowledge. The trick was to convert the students? thoughts that were rooted in theory, into practical, understandable, and usable suggestions.

This is the third time that students have taken the initiative on MIB Innovation Day the name given to the annual event.

Taking it home for additional work

For Radiometer, the benefit of the day was great inspiration.

- I think it was a great event, which gave us a breath of fresh air as well as interesting input for Radiometer?s efforts towards defining a good approach to ideation funnel management. It will be very interesting to work with some of the exciting input which was developed during Innovation Day, says Senior Product Manager, Monika Gram Ritter.

Taking up free time

The day was mostly a success because of the high involvement of students and Radiometer, as well as the preparations leading up to the day. In the past and again this year, the whole event was run completely on a voluntary basis.

- Even though all the work and the whole process of realising Innovation Day, as well as participating in the day, has to be done over and above regular studies, the project and the experience are completely worth it. I?m looking forward to see if it happens again next year with the new MIB class, says the organiser and student, Christopher Dahl Jørgensen.
