Mandag, 28 juni, 2021 - 15:00 to 17:00

Manar Saleh Alnamlah

Gender disparity is not only pronounced in the likelihood of entrepreneurship and success but also in venture funding. Given that access to capital is one of the detrimental factors in a venture’s survival and success, this disparity in funding potentially contributes to the loss of innovative new ideas and economic growth. Using multiple experimental approaches, this dissertation examines potential underlying mechanisms on the capital supply-side, capital demand-side, and their interaction. The dissertation intends to contribute to the ongoing debate about the gender gap in entrepreneurial finance and advance our understanding of the role that investors’ beliefs about female entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs' capital-seeking behavior, and investor-entrepreneur gender dynamics play in driving the observed funding gap.
