Documentation from the Quality Committee

CBS receives the lowest funding for research and education among all the Danish universities. This is documented by the Expert Committee on Quality in Higher Education (Kvalitetsudvalget). The expert report also reveals that even most business academies receive more public funding for research than CBS.

In the recently published part II of its report, the Expert Committee on Quality in Higher Education documents  that CBS receives the lowest funds for education, not only among Danish universities, but even when compared to the business academies, which do not have the same demands or ambitions as the universities for researchers to educate students.

In its report, the Committee makes eight recommendations. Recommendation no. 4 concerns "Financial incentives to improve quality and relevance in study programmes" and contains an analysis of the universities' funding. The Committee writes on pp 106-107 of the report:

"Measured both by the number of students and by share of value added funding, CBS has the lowest basic funding for research. It is particularly noteworthy that the total education and research funds per student full-time equivalent (STÅ) at CBS is at the same level or below the funds at six of the nine business academies, where there is no demand for study programmes to be research-based."
