Presentation and academic fields

Elise is a Postdoc in management accounting at the Department of Operations Management at CBS. She joined CBS in 2021. She holds an engineer degree from ENSIMAG (école nationale supérieure d’informatique et de mathématiques appliqués), and carried her last year at Imperial College, London in the mathematics department. After two research projects, one in bioinformatics in the context of the international competition iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) and one in Machine Learning at Imperial College, EEE department, she practiced as a data scientist in industry in between 2013 and 2017. Since 2021, she holds a PhD from ESCP Business School on the subject of the imaginary significations associated to artificial intelligence (AI) that shape its quantifications, uses and produce specific effects.

Her current research is interdisciplinary and addresses the manners by which machine learning algorithms move accounting to a world of evaluative infrastructures. In particular, how they modify decision-making, organizational structures, but also how they hold together emergent organizations such as social movements.

She has been teaching in higher education since 2018 two main streams of courses that represent her main research interests: management control, performance management and cost accounting; data science and AI for Business. Institutions include CBS, ESCP BS, Mines ParisTech, EM Lyon, and Dauphine PSL.
