Bridging the gap between research and society – CBS and the Science in the City Festival

This summer Copenhagen hosts a most prestigious international scientific congres, i.e.the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF). Alongside the congress, the festival, Science in the City (SIC), will intrigue visitors at the Carlsberg City District. CBS will naturally be among the representatives.

CBS: Bridging the gap between research and society

The festival and its theme of “Science Building Bridges”, will draw big crowds over its span of six days People will be treated to a rich palette of shows, events, and informative speakers, so bring your family, friends and co-workers, - anyone curious about life, the universe and everything.
At the CBS stand you can get a hands-on experience of how CBS improves your everyday life:

Come visit our indoor landscape of exploration, bridge building, scientific research and entrepreneurship. Experience how we daily connect science and society by entering our forest of sustainability and crossing our 20m long bridge of scientifically based entrepreneurship. Using gamification as our educational weapon of choice, we invite our visitors to experience the process of pin pointing society challenges and creating solid solutions based on scientific research and entrepreneurship. - And learn how the world of business is pulled in as a part of the solution working closely with students. Here you can get answers to questions like: "What really started the financial crisis?" or you can get help to testing out your new business idea.

A festival for students, families, and people interested in science

During the festival we will host our own "Dragon's Den", where the public can watch entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to serious investors. Also, join us for our " Copenhagen Science Slam" session, where expert scientists compete to deliver the most funny, interesting and educational lecture. Workshops on creating businesses will be offered in our lounge alongside a presentation on the real reasons for the financial crisis. Relax with coffee and snacks in our Green Forest Lounge, or dive under the bridge to visit our three track-lounges. Meanwhile, let your children complete our treasure hunt, on, under, and around the bridge.

About Science in the City

The Science in the City festival is an event for families, students, and everyone interested in science and research. Among the biggest focal points of this year’s festival are energy, climate, food, and health. The festival is a part of ESOF2014, the biggest science congress in Europe. Since 2004, ESOF has bi-annually attracted scientists and politicians from all over Europe, gathering them in some of Europe’s leading capital cities. This year marks Copenhagen’s turn to host the prestigious event. The purpose of this year’s theme, “Building Bridges”, is to display and demonstrate the direct link between citizen, research, and business.
