Invitation to The AIS-LEO Award Lecture 2007 by Professor Niels Bjørn-Andersen.

In December 2006, Professor Niels Bjørn-Andersen received the Association for Information Systems (AIS-) LEO Award.

The AIS-LEO Award is the most prestigious academic award within the field of Information Systems, and is given for 'life-time exceptional

achievements within the field of information systems'. The award is comparable to the ACM Turing award within Computer Science, and is

sometimes referred to the as Nobel price of Information Systems.

Niels Bjørn-Andersen is the first Dane (and only the fourth in Europe) to receive this award. When AIS was first established in 1995 he became

the first European to become President of AIS in 1996. Niels Bjørn-Andersen is widely recognized as the founder of the socio-technical IS tradition in Denmark, and has contributed in research fields like development of information systems, decision support systems, management of IS/IT, and e-business.

Niels Bjørn-Andersen started the HD study in 'organization/datamatiklinien' in 1976, HA-dat i 1984, and the cand.merc-dat study in 1987. He was also one of the co-founders of the Global e-Management Program EMBA program in 1999 - a joint program with eight leading international business schools.
