Jens Olav Dahlgaard publishes in American Political Science Review

Jens Olav Dahlgaard has published his paper “Trickle-Up Political Socialization: The Causal Effect on Turnout of Parenting a Newly Enfranchised Voter” in the leading political science journal American Political Science Review

02/28/2018

Jens Olav Dahlgaard shows that when children become eligible to vote their parents becomes more likely to vote. This result is important as it shows that young people can potentially influence their parents’ political involvement. The paper is available on First View and ungated for the first 30 days on the journals website. An potential, auxiliary benefit of the result is that if the voting age were to be lowered, not only would it induce more young people to vote, it would increase turnout for their parents, too. Jens Olav Dahlgaard elaborates on this point in a blog post on The Monkey Cage blog, a prominent political science blog, which is published on the homepage of the Washington Post.
