Succesfull launch of the Inequality Platform
The new CBS spearhead initiative, the five year research programme Business in Society Inequality Platform had a succesfull launch on 2 October with an inspiring programme and an active audience.
Internationally renowned economist Richard Blundell was our first honourable guest, warmly welcomed by CBS Dean of Research, Søren Hvidkjær, and the Academic Directors of the research platform, Birthe Larsen and Mogens Kamp Justesen.
Richard Blundell gave a vivid keynote presentation on the theme of the day, Inequality, and explained and emphasised how research across different economic disciplines can lead to new findings when considering the dynamics of income and inequality. That is, interdisciplinary research between economic fields and related fields, for example labour economics, public finance, and health economics – is needed to give us more insight into causes and consequences for inequality.
The keynote presentation was followed by a contemporary art presentation relating to inequality: visual artist Charlotte Haslund-Christensen screened her work Hope and Fear and generously gave us a humanistic and aesthetic perspective on Inequality. The audience formed an interactive part of the performance, sharing their own comments on personal hope and fear and thereby creating a shared visual testimony of the day.
