IAME 2018: Towards a Path of Blue Growth and Sustainable Development

The 2018 conference of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) focused on “Blue Growth” and “the Blue Economy“ as a potential driver of sustainable growth. With the organization of the 2018 IAME-conference in Mombasa (Kenya), the African continent as a major vector of this future development was a highly debated topic by the Maritime Economists community. CBS Maritime is happy to have been strongly represented in the debate, providing answers and reflections on some of the questions asked.

A new hope of environmentally friendly world-wide shipping

Right now the environment is the biggest loser, when our goods travel halfway around the world. CO2, methane and other emissions are among the worst offenders. But with a two-digit million dollar amount from a Canadian council, CBS Maritime is going to help lead a larger global cooperation. The aim is greener shipping.

CBS Maritime serves as a liaison between the maritime education and research activities at CBS. To strengthen the capacity of maritime faculty, we are successfully working on financing and bringing in additional researchers.

In 2014 CBS Maritime launched an ambitious maritime research program with the support and generous co-funding of the Danish Maritime Fund. The research program includes seven PhD projects each affiliated with a number of active dialogue partners from the maritime industry.
