Prerequisites
Course prerequisites
Make sure that you fulfil the prerequisites stated in the course catalogue, for the course(s) you wish to apply for, before you apply. Please note that it is your own responsibility to make sure that you fulfil the course prerequisites.
Academic recommendations
Academic level
Courses offered at CBS Summer University are regular university courses taught in English at either undergraduate or graduate level and therefore, it is strongly recommended that only students with good academic standing apply. It is the students' own responsibility to make sure that they are able to follow the courses and pass the exams.
Level of English Proficiency
Students are not required to submit any proof of English proficiency. Since all courses are taught in English and at a high academic level, it is highly recommended to have a strong command in both oral and written English, otherwise it might be difficult to follow the courses and pass the exams. We recommend all students to have an English proficiency corresponding to any of the tests and certificates listed below;
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): minimum result of 185
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): minimum of 185
- IELTS Academic Test: minimum result of 7.0
- TOEFL iBT: minimum result of 94
Disclaimer
Please note that fulfilment of requirements for CBS Summer University does not entail fulfilment of the entry requirements for full-time programmes at CBS. Also, enrolment in summer courses does not guarantee admission to full-time programmes at CBS.
Eligibility
- Bachelor students at any year of their bachelor programme are able to apply for undergraduate courses
- Bachelor students with adequate prerequisites are allowed to take graduate courses*
- Master students may also apply for undergraduate courses*
- Professionals may apply both for graduate and undergraduate courses
* However, positive lists for CBS bachelor students taking elective courses include only undergraduate courses in the Online Student Service system, and positive lists for CBS master students taking elective courses include only graduate courses in the Online Student Service system.
Course selection
Selecting courses
- Read the course descriptions in the course catalogue very carefully to make sure that you fulfil the course prerequisites
- Students can maximum take two 6-week courses at CBS Summer University (max 15 ECTS). 2-week and 3-week courses cannot be taken together with any other course - you can only follow one of these courses.
- Please note the type of exam for each course. A "home assignment" exam runs in parallel with the course and will start on the first day of teaching - for further information see the course description. All the exams of the type "home assignment" will take place simultaneously. That means your exam submissions must be handed in on the same day and time. If you do not wish to have two simultaneous home assignments, please choose other courses with another exam type. Neither the time nor the exam type will be changed.
- Please note that it is not possible to switch courses once the application rounds are closed. We will overbook all courses in relation to the number of places in each course. So even if someone else withdraws, this will not leave a place to be filled
- How to select courses depends on which system students are applying in:
The MoveOn application portal
Who: CBS Mandatory Students, Exchange Students, AURORA Students, Credit Transfer Students, Non-European Freemovers and Open University Students.
- To make sure that there are no time conflicts between your preferred and alternative courses, please check the course and exam timetables in the section Courses and exams
- Exchange students must choose two preferred courses
- For students taking supplementary courses for graduate admission at CBS: Please investigate your needs and options carefully and choose your summer courses on a well-informed basis:
- Once your summer course registration has been confirmed, you will not be able to change your registration. This will also apply in the event that you are notified by CBS Admissions that you need other courses in order to be admitted to CBS
Online Student Service
Who: Only for CBS Elective Students.
- Even though the system may allow you to sign up for more courses, you may maximum choose two (6-week) electives. These are actual course registrations and not priorities
- To make sure that there are no time conflicts between your preferred and alternative courses, please check the course and exam timetables in the section Courses and exams
- You can only see the electives approved by your study board when applying for summer electives
- Note that the course registration and assignment for students taking electives is done on a first come, first served basis (ongoing registration, i.e. courses will be closed as they fill up and reopen when students deregister)
