More applicants and more study places

This is another year with an increased interest in studying at CBS.

Despite the general tendency in Denmark showing a decrease of one percent in the total number of applicants to bachelor programmes, CBS received 2.5 percent more applicants to their bachelor programmes.

This can sound like it is harder to get into a desired programme. That is true enough for some programmes, but as CBS has increased the number of study places by around six percent, it is actually slightly easier to get into a study programme this year, says Director, Wilbert van der Meer.

“We have had slightly more applicants this year and they are just as qualified as in previous years, where we unfortunately had to reject many promising applicants. However, we have also managed to make room for a few extra students this year, so overall it is generally a little easier to get into CBS,” says Wilbert van der Meer.

While the GPA in Quota 1 has increased for four programmes, it has fallen for 12 programmes – albeit marginally for the majority of these.

One programme, HA(psyk.), has status quo with a Quota 1 GPA of 9.9, whereas HA i markeds- og kulturanalyse is a completely new programme which was the first priority for 420 applicants and ended up with a Quota 1 GPA of 10.7.

With the exception of HA i projektledelse, which had 37% more study places resulting in a Quota 1 GPA drop from 11.3 last year to 11.1 this year, the five programmes which traditionally have high Quota 1 GPA’s have increased once more.

Business Administration and Sociology has increased from 10.1 to 10.4; Business Administration and Digital Management has increased from 10.7 to 11.2; International Business and Politics has increased from 11.7 to 11.8; while International Business has increased from 12.2 to a Quota 1 GPA of 12.4.

Whereas the number of applicants to the Danish-language programmes has increased by seven percent to 2,973 applicants for their first priority, the number of applicants to the English-language programmes has fallen by three percent down to 2,138 applicants.

CBS was, this year, the first priority for 5,111 applicants and had 7,149 applicants with 14,226 applications altogether for the 3,110 available study places.

All the study places are taken and unfortunately, there are no spare study places or waiting lists.
