FTMBA 2014 Graduation

Congratulations Full-time MBA Class of 2014

On Saturday, 23 August, the Full-time MBA class of 2014 celebrated 12 months of hard work as they received their diplomas at a graduation ceremony. The group of 33 students from 14 different countries started the MBA journey together in September 2013 and over the past year has challenged one another, learned from each other’s different perspectives and experiences, and made some life-long friends in the process.

The year-long program was comprised of case studies, guest speakers, lectures, simulations and lots of active participation and group work, concluding with a 4-month long client-based strategy project. The Leadership Discovery Process and themes of Entrepreneurship and Sustainability ran throughout the year, taking students on a journey of personal and professional development, leaving them more prepared to put sustainable business practices to work in real-life situations, as well as find, analyse and develop new business opportunities.  “The Leadership Discovery Process can’t really be described as a ‘subject’ in the conventional way,” explains graduate Emiliano Di Giorgio. “It is more a personal journey, exploring one’s strengths and weaknesses and learning how this can help you to be an effective leader.”

Graduate Sergio Llorian was awarded ‘Student of the Year’, a title voted on by the rest of his classmates who felt Sergio “participated greatly in class discussions, had been a great friend and an inspiring and hard-working fellow student.” Sergio also was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, awarded by Entrepreneurship lecturer, Eythor Jonsson. In his nomination speech, Jonnson spoke of Sergio’s passion, courage, charisma and not least, generosity and willingness to support others unconditionally. Sergio has started his own company, VoiceBoxer, during the MBA, and has been joined by fellow MBA classmate, Andrea Baccenetti, as a co-founder and COO.

The Leadership Award was handed out by Laust Lauridsen from Implement, course leader for the Leadership Discovery Course and went to Joachim Rudhart for his open, honest, and curious leadership style and his willingness to challenge himself and continously develop his leadership skills.

The Class Ambassador, Morten Nielsen, VP at Carlsberg, handed out the 'Student with the Highest Grade Point Average' award to Elmar Jung and the 'Teacher of the Year' award went to Christopher Champmann for his outstanding teaching skills in 'Managerial Accounting'. In their votes, students commented that 'a seemingly boring subject was made fun'.

The finalisation of the MBA is just the beginning for the newly graduated individuals. Now armed with a set of new skills and broadened perspectives, the graduates are ready to get back to the work force. Some members of the class will return to their home countries to continue their careers there, others are returning to family owned businesses where they will apply their new MBA skills and take on bigger roles and responsibilities.  Some are moving forward with their entrepreneurial aspirations and starting their own businesses, and some will join the job force here in Denmark at companies such as Novo Nordisk, TDC, and GN Resound. No matter where they go, this group of 33 engaged, experienced and international MBA graduates will go far.
