Overwhelming interest in CBS new three-year programme, EngAGE

One year in the BSc in International Business, two years in the new programme EngAGE and then straight into the corporate sector. This is the aim of the new initiative which CBS has launched in collaboration with a number of companies.

The programme is targeted at students in the BSc in International Business. 70 out of 160 students have now applied for admission to EngAGE, which begins in September.

- More than 50 % of the students have applied for admission. More students than expected have decided to pursue their career after three years, now that they know that they have the possibility, says Martin Jes Iversen. Programme Director.

However, he stresses that a majority of CBS' students takes a master's degree, and that the new possibility must be seen as an alternative.

This year's interest in the new programme has made Martin Jes Iversen consider whether it is possible to increase the number of study places next year and grant students from other programmes the opportunity to apply for admission to EngAGE.

Competition, marks and motivation

Each company has invested DKK 50,000 per student. A close contact between the two parties must help to ensure that the students acquire some competences that enable them to obtain a permanent position after their bachelor studies.

The next step in the application procedure is a case competition. On the basis of their achievements in the case competition, their CV, motivation and marks, 40 students will be selected for interviews at the programme sponsor companies. The companies' need for specific profiles is a decisive factor when it comes to deciding who is admitted to the programme.

- The programme includes a six month internship in one of the companies and a project assignment, which is why it is crucial that the right profiles are matched with the right companies from the very beginning, says Martin Jes Iversen. He expects that the 22 places are filled on 1 June 2012.
