A proposition from the board of directors at Risø National Laboratory values that a Danish MIT-like elite construction is one of the most promising development scenarios, if Denmark wants a lighthouse in the international knowledge and innovation environments. By combining the relevant competences within technology and social science the research and user driven innovation, the power of entrepreneurship and value creation in the Danish society can be optimized.

“It is a vision with power and perspective. But we speak of different institutions with strong profiles and with each their own story, age and profile. The important thing is the idea behind it: that we by integrating strong, high technological, business oriented and social scientific environments can create extra value for the Danish society and the academic environments that are involved in the cooperation”, says Minister of Science Helge Sander.

The Ministry of Science now takes the initiative to a dialogue where the future and possibilities of a consortium will be discussed.

In Copenhagen, Risø National Laboratory, the Technical University of Denmark, The Danish University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the IT University of Copenhagen and CBS cut be put together under one umbrella with a joint management. In the proposition from Risø it is underlined that the construction should be open towards other interested parties that can contribute to a strong research and innovation environment.
