Institut for Organisation

My research explores the phenomenon of FinTech and its organizational implications for the Danish financial sector. The project situates notions of emergent technologies as determining forces of change, or ‘disruption’, within the contingencies of organizational relations and everyday practice. My research examines the interrelations and dependencies between technology, organising, and organisations. Within this, I am interested in the role of data in contemporary financial services, as processes of digitalisation interact with legacy technological infrastructure and organisational practices.
The project also explores the nature of divergent temporalities in collaborations between FinTech entities and established financial institutions; along with exploring the ways in which the socio-materiality of FinTech platforms and interfaces reshape existing financial services. Multiple financial institutions in Denmark constitute the empirical context of the study, with a focus on their partnerships and collaborations with FinTech start-ups. Within this empirical context, an ethnographic approach explores the implications of FinTech in forms of reorganization within established financial institutions in Denmark.
