1. February 12 noon is the deadline for applicants:

  1. With citizenship from outside the European Union / European Economic Area (excluding Swiss citizens) and who do not have a bachelor degree from Denmark (and might want to apply for a scholarship) and
  2. Non-EU/EEA citizens who have a bachelor degree from Denmark and want to apply for a scholarship.

To help you prepare your application and answer some of your questions upfront, this article contains the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Scholarship at CBS

A scholarship consists of a tuition fee waiver and a monthly scholarship of DKK 7,000 to assist with living costs in Denmark. The grant is paid out in advance every month and has a maximum duration of 22 months, starting 1 September the year you are accepted. The grant is taxable in Denmark according to the rules and regulations governing income from grants and tax exemption for developing countries.

In 2016 CBS offered 25 scholarships.

You can apply for a scholarship at CBS, if you:

  • are a non-EU/EEA citizen
  • need a student residence permit to study at CBS
  • pay the application fee (unless you have a bachelor degree from Denmark) by 1 February, 12 noon CET
  • apply online via the Application Portal by 1 February, 12 noon CET
  • upload documentation and a motivational essay by 1 February, 12 noon CET

You may not receive a scholarship if you are eligible for SU (Danish State Educational Grant) or any other type of public support in Denmark.

Application Fee

The following applicants are required to pay an application fee in order to have their application(s) assessed:

  • Citizens of an EU/EEA country without a Danish bachelor degree.

The following applicants are not required to pay application fee:

  1. if you apply for a CBS graduate programme and have obtained/will obtain a bachelor degree issued by a Danish university, regardless of citizenship.
  2. some holders of residence permits are exempt from paying the application fee – to see more, please go to http://www.cbs.dk/en/study/graduate/graduate-admission/graduate-admission-step-1/graduate-admission-step-2 and scroll down to the headline “APPLICATION FEE, TUITION FEE, SCHOLARSHIP AND RESIDENCE PERMIT” and look under “Non-EU/EEA citizens - Application fee”.

The application fee is 100 EURO (or 750 DKK) per applicant per application year. You only have to pay the application fee once per year, even if you submit more than one application during an admission round.

 

Tuition Fee

The following applicants are not required to pay tuition fees:

  • Citizens of the EU as well as Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liecthenstein.

The tuition fee for students enrolling in any full-time, two-year graduate programme at CBS in September 2017

  • EURO 6,250 per semester (EURO 12,500 per year) or
  • DKK 46,875 per semester (DKK 93,750 per year) if paid from a Danish bank in Danish kroner

Should I write a motivational essay?

If you are applying for a scholarship, you should write a motivational essay regardless of which programme you are applying for.

If you are not applying for a scholarship, you should only write a motivational essay, if it is part of the selection criteria on the programme(s) you are applying for. Go through the step-by-step guide to see which questions are asked in the Application Portal and what documentation you must upload.

You can save a draft if you wish to put your application on hold and return at a later point to the Application Portal to continue editing and submit. Keep in mind that once you have submitted your application, you can no longer upload documentation or make any changes. 

It is your responsibility to upload all the relevant documentation. If any documentation is missing or incomplete, this can result in a possible rejection. Please be aware that you have to upload the documentation to each application you make.
