Financial Times ranks CBS among the best in the world again

CBS is placed 38th out of 95 programmes on Financial Times' recently published global ranking of business school master programmes. According to Henrik Sornn-Friese, Academic Director, CBS can be proud of this placement.

Financial Times has just published the ranking "Master in Management programmes 2017". Again this year, CBS’ master programmes in business administration and management are ranked among the best in the world.  


Out of 95 programmes, CBS' MSc programmes in Economics and Business Administration are placed 38th. It is especially worth noticing that the CEMS Masters in International Management, a programme that CBS is also involved in, is placed 9th globally.

”We are tremendously proud that CBS once again has achieved a placement among the best master programmes in the world. It is an expression of the popularity of our master programmes among the students and an indication that CBS has an especially strong focus on diversity, research-based teaching and career opportunities for the students", says Henrik Sornn-Friese, Academic Director of the MSc programme in Economics and Business Administration.

The ranking of CBS is based on responses and numbers from alumni of eight different MSc programmes. The respondents have ranked the programmes on the basis of class diversity, salary level after graduation, internships, the education of the lecturers, exchange, etc.

CBS was placed 36th in 2016 and 32nd in 2015. CBS has dropped two places this year, which may be attributable to the fact that not as many students have been studying abroad this year compared to previous years.
 
”It is an ascertainable fact that the number of students who go on exchange have declined. It has affected this ranking in a negative way. The reason why students are not so eager to apply for a period of study abroad may be an indirect result of the study progress reform. Students have been under an increasing pressure to finalise their education faster", says Mia Cudrio Thomsen, Senior Advisor at the Dean's Office, Education.  

Compared to the Nordic universities, CBS is placed higher than the Norwegian School of Economics (65th place) and Aalto in Finland (45th place). However, Stockholm School of Economics was ranked 23rd.
