Danish Finance Institute

Attend the first annual conference of The Danish Finance Institute

A little over a year ago, banks joined together to grant up to DKK 100 million over a ten-year period for a research environment with the best finance researchers. The initiative was named The Danish Finance Institute and is based at CBS. The first annual conference is just around the corner. The theme is portfolio management and home owners’ choice of mortgage loans. The keynote speaker is Annette Vissing-Jørgensen from University of California, Berkeley.

Richard Blundell

Meet an award-winning professor of economics who is doing research on inequality

Professor Richard Blundell from University College London is coming to CBS to present his research on the dynamics of income and earnings inequality. He has won several awards, of which the most recent is Nemmers Prize in Economics. Blundell has been invited on the occasion of the launch of one of the three new research platforms at CBS, namely the Business in Society: Inequality Platform. After Blundell’s lecture, you can experience the interactive piece of art “Hope and Fear” by Charlotte Haslund-Christensen.

Digital transformations

What is the impact of digital transformation on our society?

Nothing we have seen so far will come close to the digital transformations we are facing right now, is what we are told. So, how do we create the most sustainable, digital transformations? Tommy Ahlers, Minister for Higher Education and Science, will share his thoughts on that. Ioanna Constantiou, Professor with special responsibilities at CBS, and Ursula Plesner, Associate Professor at CBS, will also provide their perspective on digital transformation. The head of the Innovation Fund Denmark and the marketing director for guest.com will also give their opinion on the matter. The event is titled Business Connect: creating sustainable, digital transformations.

Workplace diversity - meet keynote speaker Karen Ashcraft, Professor

CBS’ Diversity and Difference research platform will be launched on 11 October. At this event, you can meet keynote speaker Karen Ashcraft, who is professor at the University of Colorado. Her keynote is titled “Feeling Power: Diversity as a Sensate Encounter”. During the event, you can participate in a diversity walk. Visit the Norm Room and learn more about your own privileges and prejudices. And learn more about how much alike or different you are from your network in a research project about networks. After the event, you can attend a wine reception and an exhibition of the platform's research results. The band ‘Det Kønne Kartel’ will provide musical entertainment.

Tech researcher and debater Shoshana Zuboff to visit CBS

UPDATE: We are sorry to announce that the launch of the platform Transformations on 8 October with keynote Shoshana Zuboff has been cancelled due to illness. CBS and the Transformations platform will reschedule the launch with an event in early 2019, where we hope to have Shoshana Zuboff as keynote for the event.

Shoshana Zuboff is known in the academic world and the international public debate for her research in surveillance and capitalism. Zuboff, Professor Emerita at Harvard Business School, has recently published the book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The fight for Human Future at the New Frontier of Power. Zuboff will be giving a keynote at the launch of CBS’ research platform Transformations. The platform runs from 2018-2023 and seeks to answer questions about organisational transformation in the digital age.
