Business historian explains the ups and downs of Danish design

Are you interested in Danish design and furniture? This is your chance to understand how modern Danish furniture design became an international success. There will also be focus on how Danish furniture design has been a part of shaping consumer identities. Business historian at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy at CBS Per H. Hansen rewrites the history of modern Danish furniture design when he defends his PhD dissertation on 1 March.

One of them is Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School Julian Birkinshaw. He has written 30 books and will especially talk about his latest book Fast/Forward: Make Your Company Fit for the Future. Jim Hagemann Snabe, Chairman of the A.P. Møller-Mærsk, Board of Directors is the other speaker.

 


Experienced French start up-investor and former Apple manager visits CBS

In 2017, French President Macron appointed the businessman Pascal Cagni as chairman of the board for the national agency Business France. Pascal Cagni is probably best known as the manager for Apple from 2000 to 2012 where he was hired by Steve Jobs and had great success as manager for Apple in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During the lecture at CBS, he will also talk about his experiences at Apple.

True to tradition, CBS hosts the event Diversity Day. Diversity, which to a great extent makes up the environment for students and employees at CBS, is celebrated. Among the speakers are Journalist and TV-host Abdel Aziz Mahoud, CBS Associate Professor Sarah Louise Muhr, Professor at the University of Essex Martyna Śliwa and entrepreneur Anh Lé, In addition, representatives for Copenhagen Pride and Roskilde Festival will also talk about how they work with diversity.

When brands have a crucial impact on our life

At the same time, there has been a shift in how we perceive brands and thereby also how brands should be developed. The question on how is what Richard Gyrd-Jones will address.

Investors, entrepreneurs and politicians will gather for three days to discuss topics as how to measure the value of social products. The ambition is to get a deeper understanding of the connection between ‘social impact’, financial returns and investment decisions which will result in even better investments in the long-run.

The chairman of the European Banking Authority comes to CBS

Bitcoins and mobile bank are examples of new initiatives within financial technology. Fintech is a field of great expectations. 9 March, CBS will have a visit from Andrea Enria, Chairman of European Banking Authority (EBA). He will discuss themes about Fintech in the light of regulations and consumer protection. Enria will also talk about EBA’s priorities for the years to come.

New book on change management and innovation in the public sector

Successive governments cause the public sector to be continuously reformed and changed. Currently, the government is working on a “Sammenhængsreform” (A reform focusing on improving the public sector through coherence between sectors, better management and more time for core tasks). Change management and innovation are therefore basic conditions for the public managers who have to transform political ideas into new practice. Come by CBS for the book launch when CBS professors Carsten Greve and Anne Reff Pedersen publish their new book with the title Reform og forandring – nye vilkår for ledelse og organisering (Reform and change - new conditions for management and organisation).
