PhD defence: Thorben Peter Simonsen

Friday 7 February 2020, 13:00-15:00, Kilevej 14A (Ks71), 2000 Frederiksberg

Thorben Peter Simonsen’s thesis, The spatial organization of psychiatric practice: A situated inquiry into ‘healing architecture’, is about the spatial organisation of contemporary psychiatric practice and ‘healing architecture’ in psychiatry. The inquiry is not motivated by how architecture and space mediate health outcomes and promote patient recovery or what ‘healing architecture’ is or should be, but rather what ‘healing architecture’ actually does. The thesis investigates ‘healing architecture’ in relation to a purpose-built psychiatric hospital in Slagelse and considers the novel spatial circumstances of the Slagelse site based on detailed ethnographic fieldwork and an empirical investigation of how the relationships between space and interaction are ordered in and through psychiatric practice.

Conference on workplace stress prevention

Wednesday 26 February, 13:00-16:00, Kiln Hall, Porcelænshaven 20, 2000 Frederiksberg

Do you want to know more about the relationship between shame and stress and, moreover, be provided with tangible tools enabling managers and employees to work actively for a better working environment?
Attend the conference on prevention of and new perspectives on stress on 26 February where the research project Management, working communities, core task and stress is presented by Pernille Steen Pedersen, PhD and Postdoc at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy at CBS.
The research project has been carried out in collaboration with a number of Danish municipalities and the two sides of the industry under the organisation Fremfærd.
“Until now, we have only focused on stress when it hits, however, in my opinion we should prevent this condition through a good working environment. Stress tends to hit when there are discrepancies between a task and the framework for completing the task, but we can actually fix this problem,” says Pernille Steen Pedersen.

Participation is free of charge and the 600 seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please register no later than 19 February via the registration link.
