CBS Honorary Doctors 2018

We are proud to announce three honorary doctors, who have made remarkable contributions to research, dissemination and teaching.

Friday 16 March, we will celebrate two new honorary doctors who cooperate closely with one or more departments at CBS, and the announcement encourages deepened future cooperation.
 
The third honorary doctor will have his ceremony Monday 27 August.  

The 2018 Honorary Doctors are:

Julian Birkinshaw is Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School. Professor Birkinshaw is a world-leading scholar who has made contributions that straddle strategic management, entrepreneurship and innovation, organisation theory, and international business.
He has published 108 journal articles including some 29 articles in the very top academic journals in the management field and another 24 articles in the three leading practitioner-oriented journals.

Professor Julian Birkinshaw is appointed by Department of Strategic Management and Globalization
Lecture topic: “organizational ambidexterity”.

Kathryn Graddy is the Fred and Rita Richman Distinguished Professor in Economics at Brandeis International Business School.  She has contributed in a fundamental way to the fields of economics, arts and culture, creativity, and cultural economics. Her recent publications are focused on art prices, auctions and creativity, but her research has a broader scope and includes topics such as price discrimination, the organisation of markets, wage differentials (by gender), education, and environmental economics.

Professor Kathryn Graddy is appointed by Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy

Professor Mats Alvesson, Lund University School of Economics and Management, is one of the most distinguished social scientists in Europe and the world, globally recognised for this thought leadership. Professor Alvesson’s originality and influence are closely related to his innovative embrace and practice of multidisciplinarity, which has made him a leading scholar at the crossroads of leadership studies, organisation communication, knowledge work studies, organisation culture, and identity and gender. He is most known from being an originator of Critical Management Studies and his work on research methodology and theory building.

Professor Mats Alvesson is appointed by Department of Management, Society and Communication

The Honorary Doctors will present their research successively, and the research presentations will be followed by a reception from 11:15 to 12:30 in the main entrance hall in front of the room.
