In the autumn of 1917 - exactly 100 years and four days ago - CBS commenced its very first series of lectures, all taking place at the Copenhagen School of Commerce's building at the corner of Fiolstræde and Nørre Voldgade at downtown Copenhagen, or to be more specific, a side wing at Rosengården.

Back then, 160 students attended the series of lectures during the autumn semester 1917. The four courses taught at the time were theory of political economy, social science, business technique, bookkeeping theory and Danish literature. Now, 100 years later, CBS has more than 20,000 students, 18 full-time bachelor programmes and 37 full-time master programmes.

To mark this accomplishment and where it all started, CBS and the Danish Society for Education and Business (DSEB) has placed a brass memorial plaque at Rosengården 16.

"History has developed a strong and viable business school with international outlook and format. A business school that has benefited society with thousands of talented young people, who have helped build and cultivate the welfare society we all benefit from today. We are very proud of that", says Torben Möger Pedersen, Chairman of DSEB.

Yesterday, CBS and DSEB held a memorial plaque reception at Rosengården. Torben Möger and President Per Holten-Andersen gave speeches followed by Kurt Jacobsen, Professor and Doctor of Philosophy, who gave an outline of CBS' early existence and history.
