Agricultural report will not be completed

The so-called agricultural report will not be completed. This decision is made as the research steering committee has been unable to reach an agreement on whether the final report is of a satisfactory quality for publication.

The research steering committee behind the project "Dansk landbrugs rammevilkår og konkurrenceevne" (the framework conditions and competitiveness of Danish agriculture) cannot agree on an approval of the draft for the final report. According to Peter Møllgaard, Dean of Research, the consequence is that the project will be terminated without publication of a final report.

"We have waited for the researcher working the project to complete his task, which he now has, but the research steering committee for the project could not reach an agreement to approve the draft for the final report. We can therefore conclude that the report will not be delivered within the set scope of the project, and have made the decision to terminate the project altogether," says Peter Møllgaard, Dean of Research.
The report "Dansk landbrugs rammevilkår og konkurrenceevne" has a research steering committee consisting of the researcher himself, a representative for the funding provider and two CBS researchers. The steering committee has received the researcher's draft for a final report in the week before Christmas.

Carsten Ørts Hansen, Head of the Department of Operations Management with which the researcher is affiliated, has therefore decided to terminate the project altogether. The reason for this is that the steering committee cannot reach a unanimous approval of the report, which has already been delayed several times. The steering committee has discussed the quality of the report and a representative for CBS finds that the report in its current version is not of a satisfactory research quality, rendering it unsuitable for publication.

The project has received DKK 400,000 in external funding from Bæredygtigt Landbrug (Sustainable Agriculture) and Peter Møllgaard, Dean of Research, states that CBS will investigate how much of the funding will have to be repaid.

"We will have a talk with the funding provider and we will of course repay what we have to. We regret that we have been unable to deliver a final report as was agreed in the contract. Fortunately, these incidents are very rare, and this particular case is very unusual for several reasons. We will now look into what we can learn from it," says Peter Møllgaard.

The decision to terminate the project without a final report will not affect the Research Practice Committee's processing of the preliminary report.
