After admission to a master programme at CBS, you will be invited to participate in orientation activities for your specific programme. It takes place in mid or end August and is typically 1-3 days long. We recommend you to participate in the activities, as you will receive a lot of useful information about your programme and CBS – bot practical and academic. During orientation you will also meet your fellow students and your lecturers (teachers).
You will find more information about orientation on my.cbs.dk, which is CBS' student intranet, under My studies > Study start > Intro to CBS > Introductory activities
We recommend that you do not buy any books until you have started your studies – either during the intro programme or after the first class. Teaching materials vary from year to year, and buying the materials early may result in you spending money on the wrong materials.
You can buy the books needed in the book store at CBS, Academic Books, or on the internet. In most programmes you should expect to spend DKK 2,000 - 2,500 on average each semester. The price may vary from programme to programme and from semester to semester, and some students choose to buy used books in order to save money. In some programmes, a part of the curriculum consists of research articles and other materials available online.
Before the semester or quarter begins, the class timetable will be available online. The schedule changes each semester. To access the schedule you will need a CBS logon and password which you will receive once you have been enrolled. This means that you cannot access the schedule before you have been enrolled as a CBS student.
It can be difficult to find a place to live in Copenhagen around study start and CBS does, unfortunately, not offer accommodation for full-degree students. You will find some good advice and useful links on where to look for accommodation in the International students' survival guide to life in Denmark (pdf).
You cannot apply for a student grant before you have been enrolled in a programme. By then, you will receive more information on SU and the application process. If you are enrolled in a bachelor programme where you receive SU, and you start your master programme immediately after graduation, you will receive SU during the summer. For more information visit the SU website or my.cbs.dk
