Elizabeth

Meet Elizabeth, a student from BSc in Business Administration and Service Management

Why did I choose my programme?
I saw the BSc in Business Administration and Service Management as a perfect opportunity to learn the basics of management while diving into a more niche field of such relevant and dynamic business modality as the service industry. In many developed economies, service industries constitute over 70% of economic activities, and I believe any product can bring more value through a thorough and ground-breaking servitisation process.

What do I like the best?
What I enjoy most about my programme is the versatility of the courses. The programme contains both qualitative and quantitative subjects and materials, which I believe is the perfect blend for excelling in the world of business. The Service & Innovation concentration has particularly sparked my interest, as it challenges us to think creatively and develop ground-breaking solutions in the service sector. This approach keeps me engaged and excited about my studies.

What do I think is difficult?
One of the challenges I’ve faced is finding the balance between the academic workload, kicking off my career path and social life. Managing various parts of my daily life and succeeding academically can be overwhelming at times but comes with practice and self-reflection. Additionally, adapting to high expectations at CBS and assimilating into a new fast-paced society as an international student require patience and strong time management skills.

What would I have liked to have known before starting my programme?
I wish I had known more about the importance and ease of building relationships with fellow students early on. Both professional and friendly connections that you gain in the early stages of the programme really do facilitate your academic and social beginnings. To add to this, CBS offers numerous opportunities to connect with industry professionals, which can be incredibly valuable for future career prospects. Understanding the significance of these connections would have motivated me to engage more actively from the very beginning.

What do I want to do after finishing my programme?
After finishing my programme, I aspire to pursue a master’s degree and work in a role that would allow me to enhance a company’s offerings by using my servitisation and innovation skills. I am particularly interested in the consulting industry, or anything that would provide me with the scope to implement innovative strategies to enhance the customer experience and improve service delivery.

If I could give myself a piece of advice, before starting it would be…
To make the most use of every opportunity that comes your way. Whether it’s participating in extracurricular activities, becoming a member of associations, attending networking events or embracing opportunities presented at various fairs. The start of the degree is the perfect time for networking, enriching your university experience, bringing your contribution to the university climate, as well as enriching your resume before starting on your professional path. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and make the most of your time at CBS.
