Employees’ knowledge has become the most important resource to a company in order to optimize the ability to compete. But how do you motivate employees to share their particular knowledge when personal knowledge sharing seems like a waste of time and seems to make the individual more replaceable?

Many companies make use of external motivational factors such as money, rules and evaluations. However if companies would like to achieve voluntary knowledge sharing, they have to make use of mechanisms that support the individual employee’s feeling of autonomy, competence and social relations. This is one of the main messages at CBS on Friday, Oct 27th when Edward Deci and Bruno Frey visit with the workshop ”The Motivational Foundations of Knowledge Sharing”.

Edward Deci is one of the world’s leading motivation researchers. He is the founder of ”CET” (Cognitive Evaluation Theory) og ”SDT” (Self-Determination Theory).

Bruno Frey is one of Europe’s leading economists. He is the author of the book ”Not Just for the Money: An Economic Theory of Personal Motivation”.
