Jing Chen joined Copenhagen Business School in 2010 after receiving a PhD in Economics from Florida International University. She also holds a MA and a BA in economics from Nanjing University.

Chen's research and teaching focus on entrepreneurship. One research strand investigates the determinants of entrepreneurial entry and new business performance, including labor market friction, financial constraints, prior experience, and selection versus learning. The second research strand considers the founding conditions of start-ups, with special interest in how founding conditions persistently influence business performance and organizational behavior.

Chen teaches Entrepreneurship for first-year master students in the International Business and Innovation Program, and Applied Econometrics for first-year doctoral students.
