Stram Kæden

Stram Kæden is a research project on better collaboration and optimization throughout organizational supply chains. The research is accompanying a project initiated by Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) aimed at strengthening cooperation in supply chains to increase productivity, by conducting a large number of specific optimization processes in various Danish manufacturing companies.

Project overview

Stram Kæden has conducted 19 optimization processes in supply chains across Danish companies, aimed at strengthening the cooperation with suppliers and increase productivity. A total of 120 Danish companies have participated. Traditionally, it is difficult for partners throughout the supply chain to talk about anything but price and therefore many companies are working with a short-term and narrow perspective on the supplier-relation. The project opens up for the possibility of rethinking this relation and try new methods and tools that can help optimize the cooperation. Stram Kæden provides a unique opportunity to follow the cooperation between buyer and supplier over time, and gain knowledge about the challenges that arise when companies try to make supply chain optimizations.

Generating new practical insights

The research projects aims at:

  • Collecting knowledge about the challenges and opportunities about supply chains in Denmark.
  • Create a cohesive study about how organizations adapt their collaboration with suppliers to strengthen their productivity and competitiveness.
  • Disseminate the experiences from the companies participating in the project, benefitting the Danish corporate society as a whole –through best-practices, articles, presentations and cases.

Broadly, the research project provides perspectives on how optimization of the collaboration in supply chains can contribute to keep and develop work places in Denmark.

The knowledge benefits Danish companies and contributes to lowering the risk and highlight the opportunities of starting such optimization processes.
