New research report on Roskilde Festival: Transgressive behavior

Professor Morten Thanning Vendelø, Department of Organization (IOA), CBS; postdoc Jannick Friis Christensen, Diversity and Difference platform, CBS; and Katrine Raaby, the Danish Youth Council (DUF); have published a new report on Roskilde Festival. One of the authors of the report points out in his latest research that transgressive behavior is generally a growing security issue for festivals and similar events.

Based on 61 group interviews from Roskilde Festival in 2019, the report's authors provide a characteristic of transgressive behavior based on the experiences of the festival participants. The report also provides insight into how transgressive behavior is reproduced through normative expectations, rituals, and games. You get an insight into the security strategies that some festival guests practice to anticipate experiences with transgressive behavior. Finally, the authors come up with proposals for preventive measures to already existing efforts in that field.
