Background:
A typical industrial firm in Europe spends about 60% of its turnover on purchased components. Once again, the COVID-19 pandemic has proved that good relationships with suppliers are crucial for resilient supply chains. Management of the buyer-supplier interface, i.e. professional Purchasing and Supply Management (PSM), is thus of great strategic and operational importance. At the same time, globalized supply chains also have an important impact on the climate crisis, dramatic loss of biodiversity, and the growing number of slave labor – to name but a few examples.

The opportunity and responsibility of buying companies to act sustainably require that procurement experts have the necessary skills and knowledge to implement sustainable procurement practices.
