PhD defence: Daniel Lundgaard

In order to obtain the PhD degree, Daniel Lundgaard has submitted his thesis entitled:   Using Social Media to Discuss Global Challenges: Case Studies of the Climate Change Debate on Twitter

Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - 10:00 to 12:00

Daniel Lundgaard

Social media platforms have become some of the most important communication arenas, and as a result, these platforms have also become key arenas for discussing global challenges such as climate change. However, even though social media have become such an embedded part of our infrastructure, we know very little about how these platforms are used to discuss such challenges and what it means for the quality of these debates to move to these social media platforms. To better understand what the increased use of social media means for these debates and for the attribution of social responsibilities, this thesis investigates the potentials and challenges of using the social media platform Twitter to discuss the global challenge of climate change.
