Appointment of Professor Lucia Reisch

Member of the Germany's National Academy of Science and Engineering

08/23/2012

The German National Academy of Science and Engineering has appointed thirteen new members. The academy honors an outstanding academic performance with an appointment and invites its members to contribute their competencies to politics and society. The new members strengthen the topic networks and projects of the academy, where recommendations are developed.

Congratulations to Lucia Reisch who has been appointed. The Bio-Economy Council was founded in 2009 to provide an overview and formulate recommendations and advisory opinions in order to advance the German Federal Government’s  National Research Strategy Bio-Economy 2030, which aims at creating a sustainable, internationally competitive bio-economy.

‘Bio-economy’ in this context “means the entirety of all sectors of the economy and their respective service sectors which produce, process and treat biological resources or use them in any form”.

It’s a great honour just as it is hard work – we are very proud of Lucia and wish her all the best as the Council begins its second working phase this September, now with Lucia on board!
