Director, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Vestas Wind Systems A/S

Where: CBS, Auditorium RS20, Råvarebygningen, Porcelænshaven 22, 2000 Frederiksberg

Background:

It is widely discussed that corporations are expected to serve constructively the needs of society. This notion has been related to the core of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It is suggested that CSR reflects the social imperatives and the social consequences of business success. However, where are the corporations’ limits to implement the CSR’s strategy? Should corporations overtake local governments’ role to fulfil society’s needs? Corporations may develop capacity with local governments and civil society, among others, to implement CSR’s strategy. It is suggested that such strategy should be adapted according to the specific characteristics of the institutional context where the corporation intends to operate.

Vestas is the world’s largest energy company dedicated exclusively to wind energy. Vestas supports its global operations and employees through an expanding set of sustainability policies on: human rights and freedom of association and ethical behaviour in the business, especially when entering emerging markets.

CSR Director Kristian Heydenreich will present a corporative view to CSR. The importance of local context to efine and implement CSR’s strategies will be discussed.
