The CBS Sustainability Platform is pleased to welcome back Professor Cass R. Sunstein for his second lecture at CBS. Professor Sunstein is an American legal scholar at Harvard Law School and is one of the most published and acclaimed scholars in the world. In recent years, he has worked extensively with behavioral economics with, amongst others, Nobel Memorial Prize winner Daniel Kahnemann, economist Richard Thaler, and CBS Professor Lucia Reisch.

In his lecture at CBS, Professor Sunstein will illustrate how behavioral economics can inform policymakers on how to improve and simplify policy by challenging conventional economic assumptions. The lecture builds upon his critically acclaimed books “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness” and “Simpler”, and soon to be published book (March 2014) “Why Nudge? – The Politics of Libertarian Paternalism”.

Professor Sunstein was Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) during the Obama administration’s first term and is now heading the Program on Behavioural Economics and Public Policy at Harvard Law School.
