Greening the South? – Special Issue

Stefano Ponte & Dan Brockington co-edit a special issue of Third World Quarterly "The Green Economy in the Global South"

01/22/2016

As multiple economic perspectives keep on emerging for the “greening” of society, so are the tangible initiatives in the Global South spreading. In that context, the Platform has been sponsoring the Green Economy Conference on the following special topic: “The Green Economy in the global South:  experiences, redistributions and resistance”.

A collection of articles has emerged trying to map the territory and provide critical thinking on the subject. There is a line to draw between an integrated wealth-generating green market and a conflictual and alienating “green washing” system. This is what this multidisciplinary project is doing by spanning experiences to identify sustainable opportunities and othercome the redistribution and resistance challenges.

Special issue co-edited by Dan Brockington & Stefano Ponte (http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/01436597.2015.1086639 ) on Third World Quarterly, the reading of this compendium of articles is definitely recommended to get better analytical thinking on the question.
