cbsCSR is relaunching as CBS Sustainability, the centre for sustainability and responsible management research.

Centre history

In 2002, the CBS Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (cbsCSR) was established, and in the 16 years since, it has contributed valuable research and insights on CSR and the role of business in society.

Among many other activities, cbsCSR was the driving force behind the establishment of the former cross-disciplinary research unit CBS Sustainability, which worked with several business-related areas of sustainability across several departments at CBS.

The new CBS Sustainability research centre will continue the activities of these two research units, acting as the central gathering point for CBS’ sustainability-related research, courses, events and outreach.

Outreach and communication

With the new centre comes new initiatives. Some of these initiatives involve an increased focus on strengthening the centre’s research communication and outreach.

Among the new communication initiatives is a highlighted project feature. The highlighted projects will be novel, impactful projects that are selected for a featured position on the centre website.

CBS Sustainability is already starting this process at the relaunch party on 3 December, where the centre will host a research poster party to promote and create awareness about the research at the centre.

More initiatives for the new centre will be announced in the coming months.

Relaunch party

The CBS Sustainability launch party is on 3 December 2018 from 12.30 to 17.30. The centre looks forward to welcoming the keynote speakers Henrik Schramm Rasmussen from the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and Cass Sunstein from Harvard University.

Henrik Schramm Rasmussen is a project manager and senior advisor at DI, and his work involves advising the private sector on how to incorporate sustainability and the SDGs into their business models.

New knowledge and methods on how to achieve the practical implementation of the SDGs are explored through DI’s new project ‘From Philanthropy to Business’.

Cass Sunstein is a celebrated legal scholar, former White House Administrator and Honorary Doctor at CBS. Currently, Cass Sunstein is the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard Law School, and the dean of Harvard Law School has described him as “the preeminent legal scholar of our time, the most wide-ranging, the most prolific, the most cited, and the most influential.”

Furthermore, the Sustainability Influencers will give a presentation about the SDGs from the perspective of the young generation. The Sustainability Influencers are an organisation of student representatives from all the Danish universities who work with promotion of the SDGs among university students, empowering and inspiring Danish students to become more involved in sustainability.

For more information about the launch party, see the programme for the day or email your questions to the new centre manager, Louise Thomsen at lth.msc@cbs.dk.
