Appointment of Waldemar Schmidt as adjunct professor in strategy and service management at Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy, CBS

Waldemar Schmidt was originally trained as a production engineer and spent the early years of his career with the ISS Group. There he would serve as CEO for almost twenty years and under his leadership the company enjoyed significant growth. ISS is today among the world’s largest providers of facility services.

Since his departure from ISS seven years ago, Waldemar Schmidt has concentrated his professional attention on research, development and governance. In additional to serving on the boards of several international companies, he has made substantial contributions to our understanding of global management and the service sector. His writings include Winning at Service (Wiley, 2003) and Denmark Limited – Global by Design (Gads Forlag, 2006). In 2004, he also authored the Nørby Commission’s report on corporate governance.

Waldemar Schmidt was awarded the Royal Order of Dannebrog in 2000 and the Order of the Polar Star in 2006.
