PhD defence: Marcus Lantz

In order to obtain the PhD degree, Marcus Lantz has submitted his thesis entitled: Timely Emotion:The Rhetorical Framing of Strategic Decision Making

Friday, October 23, 2020 - 10:00 to 12:00

Viewing decision making as the social exchange of reasons about choice in the face of uncertainty, the dissertation investigates how humans decide to take action. Through two qualitatively informed field studies, totaling 22 months, as well as a mainly theoretical study of a key political speech, the findings demonstrate how the ongoing, negotiated organizing of emotion constitutes compelling reasons to act.
