Aradhna Aggarwal has published two reports on SEZ policies under subregional cooperation programs in Southeast Asia, commissioned by the Asian Development Bank (ADB): 'Special Economic Zones for Shared Prosperity: Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA)' and 'Special Economic Zones in  the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT): Opportunities for collaboration'.

Special economic zones are seen as prime catalysts for sustainable development in the subregions, especially in border areas.  However, very little is known about whether and how successful the participating countries have been in coordinating their SEZ strategies to generate network externalities in these subregions through regional cooperation. While addressing this gap, these reports harmonize the data on economic zones in the subregional member countries, develop a framework to assess the mainstreaming of the subregional agenda into national and subnational development agendas, and propose a strategic framework for the success of economic zones in the subregion.

The reports are released in the respective Forums of the highest decision-making government bodies of the two subregions.
